Tri-Valley Local Schools To Build Community Fitness Center
Dresden, Ohio …. Tri-Valley Local Schools is proud to announce that the school district will soon be building a community fitness center. The fitness center will provide a facility for sports practices for students as well as provide the community with local fitness accommodations and wellness activities. “This has been an exciting time for Tri-Valley with the renovations to the high school and construction of the new middle school and elementary schools in Adamsville, Dresden, Frazeysburg and Nashport. The prospect of building a fitness center would complete the picture for our school district,” said Mr. Spade, Superintendent of Tri-Valley Local School. The fitness center will be located at the site of the current Tri-Valley Annex building.
The goal of building the new fitness center is to provide a facility to house after school sporting practices so that the students are home at an earlier hour. At present Tri-Valley High School and Middle School have numerous teams competing for available gym space. Trying to accommodate 17 separate teams needing gym space for practice and games stretches current facilities to the limits. Students have staggered practice times whenever the gym space becomes available. It is common for practice times to conclude as late as 9:00 p.m.; such late practice times present an academic disadvantage for these student athletes. With three additional basketball courts, all teams would be able to practice and be finished around 5:30 p.m. “Getting home at an earlier hour to do homework and to get to bed at a reasonable hour represents a great benefit to our students and parents,” said Mr. Spade.
In addition to helping the students of Tri-Valley, the fitness center will also benefit the community. Some of the benefits to the community include fitness and wellness classes, senior activities, aerobic and strength training equipment and walking track.
The fitness center facility will be owned and operate by Tri-Valley School district but will also be open to the community. The community may obtain a membership or pay per entry to the facility. Single, family or senior memberships are available at district and non-district rates.
