TVHS Archery Club qualifies for Nationals

Last weekend at the third annual Arnold Archery Competition, which featured the Ohio Division of Wildlife, Ohio National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Tournament, the Scottie contingent from Tri-Valley had a great showing, placing 7th with 3036 points to qualify for the National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, May 8 and 9.
“We’re proud of the performance our team gave, and the students are looking forward to finishing the year strong at the Nationals,” said TVHS Archery Club coach Dave Hill.
“It took a 2,900 point total to qualify for the nationals - and our 3,036 points got us in,” stateda happy Coach Hill.
It was the third consecutive year that theScottie archery club has competed in the event, which this year included a larger field of approximately 25 archery teams from schools across the state of Ohio.
The NASP sanctioned tournament was part of the 21st annual Arnold Sports Festival, held last weekend in Columbus.
The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is a joint venture between state departments of Education and Wildlife. The program promotes student education, physical education and participation in the life long sport of Archery.
The Scotties sent some exprienced archers to the state tournament, as TV’s Michael Frame and Shad Delancey returned for their third trip to the tourney, while fellow teammates Shelby Hatfield, Erin Green, Kendra Prater, Cathe Larr, and Sean Patrick competed in their second NASP state tournament.
Individual scores for the Scotties were as follows: Mike Frame 281, Kris Schearman 260, Travis Matheney 258, Ernie Mummey 252, Robert Snyder 252, Sean Patrick 250, Shadley Delancey 247, Rob Tubbs 244, Reid Williams 240, Shane McMullen 238, Ray Poston 234, Austin Henning 233, Jesse Taylor 221, Cole Newell 216, Shelby Hatfield 254, Addie Sidwell 249, Kendra Prater 245, Abby Yinger 244, Cathe Larr 240, Erica Williams 232, Megan Ernfield 214, Kelsey Dickson 199, Jessica Nethers 194, Erin Green 101.
“We would like to thank everyone in the Tri-Valley School District for their support,” Coach Hill.
“Without the support from our school and parents and fiends, the kids would not have the opportunity to participate in such an event,” concluded Coach Hill. |
